In match 16 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets.
The most awaited match of all time, the India vs Pakistan, was expected to be a hard fought competition between the both sides, but it turned out to be a sided contest in favor of Pakistan. Pakistan outperformed India in every department, and gave a shocking upset to the team as well as the Indian fans.
Everything went in favor of Pakistan, including the toss. Winning the toss, Pakistan put India to bat first and restricted them on an average score of 151 runs from their 20 overs. The Indian batting lineup struggled to score runs in front of the disciplined Pakistani bowling attack. The two quick wickets in the beginning put the initial pressure on the Indian batsmen, however, India’s batting did bounce back as Virat Kohli and R Pant came on the crease. The two build a strong partnership and anchored the Indian innings. Virat Kohli played a captain’s knock of 57 runs along with brilliant 39 by R Pant. This combined efforts of the capital as well as the Indian middle order, helped India reach a respectable total of 151 runs in their 20 overs. In response, Pakistan chased the total of 152 in the 18th over without losing a single wicket, thus, ending a long winning streak of India over Pakistan in World Cups.

First Innings (India)
India started off their batting pretty badly. They lost Rohit Sharma on a Golden duck, as well as KL Rahul for a score of just 3 runs. The two quick wickets given the perfect start to Pakistan as they managed to put pressure on the Indian side and restricted them to score runs at a good rate. The Partnership of V Kohli and R Pant, helped Indian batting to recover from initial losses. Courtesy of the brilliant innings of both these batsmen, India reached a total of 151 runs in their 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi did a fabulous job with ball by taking 3 wickets and conceding just 31 runs in his 4 over spell.
Second Innings (Pakistan)
In response of India’s 151 runs, Pakistan chased the set target in 17.5 overs without losing any wicket. The pair of Rizwan (79) and B Azam (68), remained not out and helped their team break the long losing streak of Pakistan against India.
