India won the match against Afghanistan with a convincing margin of 66 runs, thus, improving their Net Run Rate in the Group 2 points table. However, the luck of India in terms of Toss, is still not opened. India lost its 3rd Consecutive toss and were asked to Bat first yet again by Afghanistan.
This time, Unlike last two matches, the Indian batting did a spectacular job. The openers given them a great start followed by the middle order providing a great finish. India registered highest score of T20 World Cup 2021, with scoring 210 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 20 overs. The openers Rohit Sharma (74) and KL Rahul (69) scored half ton each. Then, the finishing is provided by a brilliant partnership between Hardik Pandya (35) and R Pant (27), who helped India reach the highest total of T20 World Cup 2021, of 210 runs. It was a total flop show by the Afghanistani bowling, with only two bowlers managed to take one wicket each. Chasing a massive target of 211, Afghanistan only managed to make 144 runs in their 20 overs. Indian bowling too, did a good job in this match, restricting Afghanistan on a score less than 150,thereby providing India a much needed big victory of 66 runs. M Shami took 3 wickets from the Indian side.
