In match 17 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Afghanistan defeated Scotland by 130 runs.

After this whopping victory over Scotland, Afghanistan jumped to the top of the Group 2 with 2 points and Net Run Rate over +6. The Net Run Rate of Afghanistan is currently highest amongst the Super 12. Afghanistan put up an all round display against Scotland and outperformed them in every department. Afghanistan after winning the toss, decided to bat first and put up a massive 190 runs on the board in their 20 overs. This Score is massive enough on every surface, let alone on this hard to bat surface of Sharjah Cricket Ground. A collective batting effort by Afghanistan, coupled with a brilliant half ton by N Zadran(59) helped Afghanistan build this massive total of 190. After a stunning batting display, Afghanistan was dominant with the ball too, as they bowled out Scotland on just a score of 60 runs. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, was the main highlight of bowling as he achieved 5 wicket haul against Scotland. As a result, Afghanistan got a one side victory over Scotland by 130 runs.

On the hard to bat pitch of Sharjah Cricket Ground, Afghanistan put up a massive total of 190 runs. The collective batting effort of H Zazai(44), Gurbaz(46), and a brilliant half tonner N Zadran (59) , helped Afghanistan reach a total of 190 runs for a loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs.


Second Innings (Scotland)

Chasing a target of 190, Scotland was no match against the dominating bowling display. The Spinning duo of M Rahman and Rashid Khan, totally destroyed the Scotland batting lineup, and never allowed them a single chance to return in the game. Rahid Khan took 4 wickets conceding just 9 runs in his 2.2 overs, while M Rahman achieved his 5 wicket haul. As a result, Chasing a target of 191, Scotland was bowled out for a score of just 60 runs
